6 Ways to Pinpoint Your Perfect Career

Brainstorming on a Piece of Paper

The key is to figure out what you want in a career. You can get started by thinking about what you enjoy doing and what you are good at.

Then, you should start planning for what you want to do when you graduate from college. You should work at different jobs, ask friends and family what they think of your job choices and know what industries you want to work in.

We can't predict the future, but looking at the present and the future might help you discover your career.

There are many different career paths and each has its pros and cons. We find that there are 3 main paths for freshers that you can take in this process. You should consider all of them.

The 1st step is to brainstorm on a piece of paper.

Then, you are going to find out what you enjoy doing.

After you have a good idea of what you want, you are going to analyze your strengths and challenges.

I talked about this earlier in one of my blogs re-discover your career, but I always use this strategy, take a pad and write your goal in the form of a question at the top.

Once you brainstorm and list your goals then next, list 20 answers to your question. For example, you can write, "What should I do with my time and life?" Then sit for 30 minutes to an hour and bring the answer to this question.

The key to this exercise is to find 20 answers. Don't give up until you get 20 answers. You can repeat it every day until you get the answer you are looking for.

Ask three Close Friends

Ask three of your close friends how you can find your ideal career. Career Development experts say it is a good idea to get three different perspectives on the same topic.

After asking your friends, take note of what they say and then go out and talk to them in person. Ask them where they see your potential career. Ask them what it is they would like you to do. Ask them what the challenges are so that you can be better prepared for those challenges.

Your friends will have some great advice for you, but they won't know what you want or how to help you find that ideal career. That's why you need to communicate with them with clarity.

You will get a mix of advice from people who have been in your position, and others who have some idea of what that ideal career should look like. It will help you to have different perspectives on the topic. Ask them about the things they absolutely love to do.

Sometimes our friends know us better than we do. When you meet one of your friends, you say you are at the crossroads of your life and career. Ask them what you want to do.

You may be surprised at how easy it is to evaluate your strengths and skills and report the perfect career choice.

Ask your Boss and Colleagues

Some people are just born to do certain tasks. The reason why they do not change jobs when they have been in the same company for a long time is that they are just naturally good at it.

However, you can get a good idea about what your natural skill set is by asking your boss and colleagues. They could tell you what they think you are good at or what you are not good at. If you work with different people, you will get to know your personality and how you can cope with us while working with the team.

You need to talk to your boss about your career goals and aspirations. This is a much better idea than starting your career search only a few weeks after you’ve been hired. Asking your boss also shows that you are serious about your career and are not just looking for a job because you are bored or unhappy at your current workplace.

Like the friends in the example above, your boss and colleagues may be looking at you differently than you are.

In fact, they are probably the most familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of your work environment. Collect and compare all the answers you get from them and see if there is a common theme to explore.

Call Recruiter

You are probably going to be overwhelmed with the amount of information out there. Stop looking for career advice on social media. Instead, look for the information on a site that gives you real career advice.

If you want to find out what you should be doing to kick-start your career, you should look for career advice from real people who have been in your position.

You should see how these people solved their problems, how they found the best career, and how they know what to do to achieve success in their careers.

If you are looking to find your ideal career you also should be looking for a great company that fits your personality, interests, and skills. These are the three factors that will determine what career will be perfect for you.

For instance, if you are interested in working with people all day, then you probably want to work for a company where you are going to be able to help people.

Sometimes you can catch recruiters in their late hours and meet them to see what you might be good at.

I've done this at different times in my life, but people seem to be open to talking to others. After all, if you don't get paid, they also don't get paid either. The ideas I got are pretty good.

If you are looking for a career, you must have your resume ready. If don’t then you must develop your effective resume, there are 3 key elements of an effective resume. Include these all elements in your resume to maximize your chances of getting an interview call.

Take Career Level Tests

With so many job titles, it takes a lot of time and effort to find an ideal career path. You need to be able to take career tests, learn more about yourself, and then create your own unique career plan.

How do you do that? Do you simply pick the career you love, and hope for the best? Well, here are a few tips to help you find your ideal career.

You could probably do quite a bit and not have to worry about finding a job you like. But what if you want to find the job that is the right fit for you? And what if you want to work in a field you love?

The folks at Career Explorer have done the hard work for you. The site allows you to try out a bunch of career tests and get a sense of whether you like the work or not.

There are several sites on the internet where you can take one of these tests for a fee. Find out different online portals here

However, in the "Recruiters" tip above, many recruiters have this software and can be tested in the office.

I have taken these tests many times in my life. It usually takes 1 to 2 hours, but it is thorough. They ask you to answer a series of questions about what you are good at, what you enjoy, and what you want to do rather than not do.

If you take it, you will probably discover some new exciting areas to explore in your life.

Keep a Diary

You can find your ideal career if you just write down what you want from your career and the kind of people you want to work with. This might sound a little weird but it is very easy to do.

Think about the job you have today and write down all the things that you don't like about it. Include your reasons in the comments below. Then, think about what you don't like about your current job and write that down too.

Do you want to keep a diary? If yes, read and look for similarities in your text. Be aware of your favorite trends and disliked activities.

In fact, finding examples of things you dislike or frustrate is just as important as finding something you like. For example, if you hate intimidating bosses, you probably want a self-determining position.

If you don't like your co-workers, you probably prefer your office. Discovering what you really want to do in your life is the most important decision you can make.

According to the New York Times, a career diary is a great way to get to know what really drives you and what you want to achieve. Since you're young, you might not be able to afford a business diary, but you can keep a personal one and write down your dreams and goals.

The best thing about a diary is that you can write anything you think of, including your goals and dreams. When you read it back later, it will remind you of your memories and thoughts.

Conclusion

One thing I learned from the interview process was that when looking for a job, the goal is not to find the perfect job but to find the right job.

We spend more than 1/3 of our lives at work. Therefore, finding the right career is important to keep this one-third of our lives happy and productive.

A job is not something that just magically falls into your lap. It is something you actively pursue and actively look for.

I mean, even if you are a college graduate, you will still have to go through the same process of finding a good job. This means that if you are not sure what to then keep exploring yourself till the time you find your ultimate desired career.
